Job searching: Google or Facebook?

I'm wondering about the chief merits between working at Google or Facebook as a software engineer? You're not going to get rich through Google stock options anymore, and I know for a fact from my friends there that they don't pay very high salaries. Facebook is still private, growing, and will eventually go public or be bought. Facebook has the amenities of Google (free breakfast, lunch, dinner). Is Facebook the Google of 2001?

Any opinions?

I know people that accepted jobs at Google. From everything I have heard, they pay well but not top tier.

Depending on if you're on the main campus or not... the amenities seem to be far better at google.

I would personally go for google if I had the choice between the two. It's not for the money of stock, but it does sound pretty good to work there.

I think Google is one of the few places I'd go to from where I currently am. Haven't tried recently as I don't have too much desire to switch.

I still fail to see what facebook could possibly be doing that could employ so many people. It seems like a few people could run it out of their basement without any problems. I'd probably laugh if someone put facebook on their resume.

Take a look at their jobs page. The software engineering jobs are in line with other places like Google.
