Why am I so unenthusiastic about my job these days? I work in a lower class area selling cell phones. Majority of the customers here that have had their credit checked through me have had write offs for other cellular companies they previously had. Anyhow I feel as if I don?t enjoy this job anymore. Everyone who attempts to get a phone either has no credit or bad credit here. Nobody understands what I?m telling them when I explain to them about the current rate plans we have. Almost no one here who attempts to get a Nextel phone understands how important credit is. I called another store that sells cell phones and kinda played dumb. I just asked about a Nokia phone and if I could get a plan with no credit. The guy sounded like he was super duper duper happy. Now how does one do that? I can?t for the life of me get my enthusiasm up that high. HELP?

Because you work in a lower class area selling cell phones.

Seriously, you said it yourself. You have a job you don't like. Look for a new one... something more interesting than retail sales.

I had the same job you have. 1 in 20 people would have the credit to actually purchase a cell phone. Everybody else got a $200-$1000 deposit which they weren't willing to pay. Weed out the customers that won't have credit by asking them some prelim questions like job status and home rental/own status. You should be able to tell which ones will get through or not. Tell them it saves them time because you know they'll get a $200 deposit response back if they fill out the form.

I don't understand how others are so damn happy all the time. I guess it's the atmosphere that other stores work out of. Majority of the shops aren't in K-Marts. They're out in hole in the wall places. When you work inside of a supermarket you get people just walking by, thinking, "Hey let me try and see if I qualify for a phone, maybe I do!" etc etc.

Would that be considered as being rude or what? I mean these people coming up here come with no flip flops/shoes, walk bare footed, some are missing teeth, etc.

I don't mind asking that kind of questions but I don't want to come off as a rude salesman.

My co-worker asks straight up, "Do you have credit?, if you have bad credit, don't waste my time." He had to be coached for that.

Sometimes, being happy at work has a lot to do w/ your co-workers, are they cool?

If I was to transfer out of here I wouldn't have a full-time job. We have four locations state wide and each one has its own manager. I'm the one over here.

They are, but I actually work alone lol. It's only me in the kiosk. I find it good at the same time because there is nobody watching over me. But then again maybe that is why I feel this way.

Simple answer: You need to find another job that makes you happy. If you're not happy with your job, you're not going to be happy with your life in general, probably.

Find something you like to do and figure out how to get someone to pay you to do it.< the American Way!!!
