Hey all, from my prior posts some of you may already know that I am a bit disenchanted with my job as a patent professional. Sure it pays the bills better then just about any job out there, but the hours suck and I feel like I am not doing anything that matters with my life. I would gladly take a bit of pay cut to do something that helps people or contributes to the betterment of society or some crap like that. I've already decided that I'm going to be a high school chemistry teacher for my second career, but that is a ways off (I'm 30 now and plan to retire from my current job at 45).

That said, I'd like to have your opinions/suggestions of jobs "that matter" and which might require a J.D. and/or a science degree. I don't know about you all, but I find that I have a very hard time identifying job opportunities outside of my general scope of employment (i.e., outside of the patent legal arena).

Thanks in advance.
