Hi guys, I wanted to get some advice on this situation if possible.
Currently I am working as a cashier at a local grocery store. I'm 19 and have worked there for 3 years. It was going to be my main summer job as it has been the past few years. Anyway, yesterday I was offered a job with the city as a traffic counter, which I will want to accept. They are mailing me a letter of offer and then there is a meeting on Monday outlining the position. I have no idea how many hours it would entail or at what the pay would be.
Anyway, I won't be able to just up and quit my job at the grocery store because I will no doubt lose any recommendation if I did that out of the blue.
But I guess I might have to just do that if the government job requires me to start right away, I guess ?
I'm not sure how I should go about quitting there, or if I should even tell them about this job possibility until after I accept it. Ideas ?
Also - I had 2 interviews at a clothing store last week, the 2nd being Thursday. The manager said "I think you'd be perfect - you'll be hearing from us VERY soon" but I have yet to hear from them, should I go into the store by the end of the week and find out what's going on if they don't call ?
Thanks - Rob
