Some of you probably know that I run a small consulting firm with two partners and about a dozen employees. Well, we're growing, and we have a lot of opportunities opening up.

We have a new venture and we're in need of online representation. We do have partnerships with creative firms, but I know ATOT has a lot of talented people. I thought this might be a good opportunity for someone (or a group of people, I don't care) to make some good money, get experience, etc.

The following are sites of companies of that I deal with personally and respect, and I believe it's representative of what we'd like to have:

http://communityserver.org/
http://www.wintellect.com/
http://www.thoughtworks.com/index.html
http://www.brulant.com
http://www.geniant.com

The overriding theme here is colorful, clean, and professional. What we're expecting:

  • A logo submission
  • A layout with supporting graphics and other content you provider (Flash, etc.)

You'll have total creative license. What I need from you:

  • A PM suggesting interest
  • A portfolio of some kind. You don't need to be formal with me. Just give me some idea of what you've done.
  • An idea of cost. We are not looking for a discount here; we're paying for professional services. Don't feel like providing me an estimate locks you into that amount either. We'll find a middle ground that works well for all.

That's really it. I'm hoping someone from AT can pick this up and run with it and get some value for the work. If anyone has any questions, please ask in this thread so I can answer for all.

Thanks!

thoughtworks? Do you really mean to link to thoughtworks.com or the URL anchor text?

Flexible in that regard. It would be nice to have something in a week or two, but with the right arrangements we could work with whomever to make it fit their schedule.

To be more direct, I'd say less than 3 weeks.

That's essentially it, you are correct. We'd be adding the content and whatever other functionality was necessary. We're essentially looking for the layout/template with everything integrated nicely that we can extend as we see fit.

Hope that makes sense. I appreciate the request for clarification.

He didn't ruin it for ATOTers. He's helping the ATOT poster out and if the poster still wants to go with fellow ATOTers out, then that's a bonus.

Nice way to ruin it for us ATOTers.

Those in the industry know there are many sources out there for sites. Comparing TM to someone who designs one from scratch is more akin to comparing a McDonalds burger to one at a fancy resteraunt. They both do the same thing, but one is a heck of a lot more attractive and better tasting/looking.

Keep in mind that even with a template you'll want someone who can customize it and develop other sections, depending on what they want there's still plenty of work to be done.

I just wanted to thank everyone for the support, the kind words, and the interest. I did receive a lot of feedback from very talented and enterprising ATOTers as expected. I think it's this type of dynamic that, in part, makes this forum a great community.

We have received all the information we need to make a decision at this point. One of my partners is on vacation so I'm a little delayed in getting a democratic choice, but we hope to have that in the next day or so. If anyone has any additional feedback/questions please feel free to let me know.

Thanks again!

Originally, I would question the ability of your neighborhood animals to talk, but that hurt a little bit :(. I'm going to crawl in my corner now.....
