job #1 (current job):
a) incredibly boring city, no close friends in this area
b) boring work, but this is improving with recent projects
c) permanent, full time, steady work with a very stable company
d) no real room for upward advancement (steady constant yearly salary raises)

job #2 (recent job offer):
a) back in the city that I grew up in, lots of friends in this area
b) job description appears to involve more challenging, interesting work
c) contract position, no intent to hire at the end of contract, large, stable company
d) hourly wage is essentially the same pay rate as my current salaried job

A few things to note: I plan on going back to school next year full-time (fall 09). I am pretty miserable in the current city I'm working in due to lack of new friends and its boring suburbia. I've never been in a contract position. The pay for the new job seems low considering it is contract work with no intent of permanent hire.

So help me decide ATOT... which would you choose?

forgot to mention that the contract ends at the end of this year so I'll be out of work for about 9 months until school starts, if I can't find a job after the contract ends.

If you are gonna quit your job to back to school, just go to the contract one. Atleast go to something you would enjoy because neither solution is permemant.

Do whatever makes you happy in the long run. Only you can make that decision. Personally I like stability.

Why worry about the security of your job if you plan to go back to school already?
