anyone else having a heck of a time trying to find work in their field? i have been looking for 3 months now with no luck. i am not even being picky either. i am willing to relocate and accept whatever responsibilities that come with the job. i just think it's a tough market right now. i am a civil engineer with 2 years of experience by the way.

Engineering anything is getting the royal screw job. I graduated in 6/01, took me till 5/02 to actually find something. However I'm now looking for something else as I'm unemployed again. I've decided to back to school to get my Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering next September, but it would be nice to use what I've learned a little more.

Not I, but my brother in law is scheduled to graduate with a bacholer's degree in computer science, and he has sent out over 50 resumes, and still hardly any replies, with them all being that they aren't hiring right now. I have a feeling that he got into this profession about 3 or 4 years too late.

computer jobs in NYC and washington DC area SUCKS! (a friend has been unemployed for a year in nyc, and i've was unemployed for a year in dc. got lucky and found something)

also new lawyers just graduating aren't do much better in dc/baltimore area. (a friend of mine will get his law degree in DEC, and no luck so far in getting a job as a lawyer.)

My Dad has been laid off since February of this year. He worked at Sun Microsystems until his fvcking asshole boss picked him to be laid off since he had a choice. :| His old boss and him had a grudge against each other since they met. :( But his old boss just got canned a couple weeks ago so he was laughing about it. :p

Anyways, he can't find sh!t for jobs here in Central Florida. IT SUCKS. :(

I just saw my brother in law last night. He is a civil engineer with 12 years experience, some of it on very good projects. He is currently working at some crap job that utilizes about 10% of his ability. He has a family to support and feed and is doing the best he can. This is So. CA. with, supposedly, lots of construction going on.

Go figure. Good luck.

I am graduating with a BS in Civil Eng in 3 weeks. Luckily, the place where I did my co-op has hired me full time, so I will have a job in January. I'm so happy because most of my friends are having a really hard time finding jobs. I really hope they find jobs soon so they can move to city and we can be apartment-mates.

There are jobs everywhere, but nobody wants them. As for today's state of affairs, the GravyTrain is over. Also, most of you are unemployable out of College because you have no work experience. You couldn't sell yourself out of a paper bag. The good paying jobs are taken by people who have been in the work force for 10-20 years. That's reality.
