I worked at K-Mart as a cashier for about three months, from Sept 00 till Dec 00. Can/should I put them down as a reference when applying for other jobs. Or since it wasn't the full six months, should I leave it out? It was only a seasonal job anyway. There was no way that I was gonna be there for six months.

Not necessarily, if you write "seasonal job" in the job description, there wouldn't be a problem. A reference is a reference, use as many as you can!

They will most likely ask you why you left your previous employer. My advice is to put down some phony company and say you woked there for a year, and that they went out of business.

I rather now lie, just in case I get caught.

I was just asking if I should put down that I worked for K-Mart or not.

in my experience, if you have worked before, you have better chances of getting hired than somebody who hasn't

Yup. Like I said before, in your resume, in the job description just write "seasonal employment". If you don't make a big deal about it, your prospective new employer won't either.
