I hope more people will wish me luck 😛 I'm going to check tomorrow morning 🙂

Good night and thanks Zim.

BIG tip: get email addresses if you can and follow up with a soft copy resume. I work for recruiting in a large company and you'd be amazed how many of the paper resumes that you hand out will go directly in the garbage because it's difficult for recruiters to keep track of them and pass them on to the right people.

Last job fair I went to they all just directed me to their website to fill out an online application. They took my resume out of courtesy, but I'm sure it was never read. What's the ponit of driving all the way to Philadelphia just to be told where to fill out an online application? Hope yours turns out better. 🙂

Yep, that's 150% accurate.

best of luck. some impressive company names there. although in my experience job fairs generally suck, unless you're the cream of the crop.

whatever the case, good luck!

Job fairs generally seem to be a complete waste of time IMO unless you're the exact type of candidate they're looking for, or for the reason HotChic mentioned. It's not hopeless, but unless you just stand out, you'll just be a random guy their recruiter shakes hands with.

I have a friend who went to an industry conference (he went to a large embedded systems conference) and he got a job within a few days as a software/hardware/QA engineer. You guys might want to try that out.

Yeah ask my buddy who after attending our Universities career fair landed a job with IBM making 52K a year. It's called making an impression and networking, get used to it b/c thats a significant percentage of a professional career.

good luck bruce.

also be sure to submit resumes on their sites if you can. many are not accepting paper copies anymore (at least in my industry)

That's not entirely true... you get all kinds of cool doo-dads from the companies. I've got dozens of pens some keychains, magnets, a frisbee (Target), several ice scrapers, and LCD screen cleaner, post-it notes, business card holders... 🙂

Ask him what? I wouldn't call attending a career fair networking, because you won't ever keep in touch with any of the people you "meet" there. I'm sure a lot of people do get jobs through career fairs if they're a very close match to what the employer was looking for.
