Job dilemma, confused.

Nocturnal

Lifer
I have a dilemma, I work for a mom and pop store fixing computers and I get paid pretty decently. I have no qualms with where I work and who I work with whatsoever. However just on a limb I went ahead and applied to Best Buy for their Geek Squad and basically got hired. I was supposed to give my two weeks notice to my current employer about a week and a half ago but I didn?t because I am confused on whether or not I should stay or leave. I have like until tomorrow morning to decide on whether or not I want to go or not. What would you do? I really don?t know and I?m very confused.

Do you LIKE your current job? I've found that being happy at your place of employment means more than anything. Do you think you'd be happy working for the Geek Squad?

QFT
Unless the mom and pop are thieves!

Honestly, I don't know if I'd be happy working for the Geek Squad. It's like one of those what if I am missing out on a great oppurtunity. Yes, I'm content with where I'm at. VERY flexible hours, I can make as much money as I want to (commission based). I have no qualms with where I am right now. In fact, I live right next door to work. I'm just confused because, like I said, what if I'm missing out on a better oppurtunity. I can say for sure I will not make as much as I make now at my job with the GS job.

Agreed 100%.

Don't worry about what you might miss out on. Worry about being happy and content. What if you took the BB job and found that you hated it. The mom and pop shop might not hire you back because they've replaced you.

You'll find yourself either unemployed, looking for that one good job again. Or you'll find yourself miserable in a job you hate.

Unless it's a significant pay increase (100% or more), I wouldn't do it.

What is the proper way to decline the offer at Best Buy? I'm supposed to fill out some papers tomorrow and go to a breakfast gathering on Sunday.

Have you already ACCEPTED the offer at BB?

I was hired already. I took a drug test and I'm supposed to sign papers tomorrow.

LOL just call them up and say no thanks you changed your mind or say you lied on your application.

Oh and I would apologize for wasting their time.

LOL ok thanks.

Seriously think about the time, resources and money they have already spent on you. At least you've (finally) come to your senses and are declining the job offer before you actually begin work. I'm sure that you would hate it or eventually hate it.

Just call them up, be honest and then apologize.

seems like you have a perfect job for the time being.
Just call BB and explain to them, then politely decline the offer.
