As I indicated before: "They want me back for a contract position, that's what I did there. The position I did was a contract position by nature, because it's for a project with an end date. The contract runs through the end of the project. The company doesn't hire any permanent people for project work. Doesn't mean I can't latch on in another capacity though, as many contractors have there."
There is no fighting for a full-time position, that's not how it works. This company relies heavily on contract work, and has many many contracts. Also, the contractors are typically paid great rates, higher than the full-time emplyoees. Plus this is a long-term contract. My managers just can't create a full-time position out of thin air.
I don't have a 401K where I work currently full-time, so I'm not losing anything there. And I get awesome benefits through my wife's employer so I don't even use the benefits I get at my current place. They actually offered me medical and dental with this contract, but said I could elect to dismiss them for a higher hourly wage. I dismissed the benefits for the higher wage, since I already get great benefits through my wife.
