Job Application - Salary

Working on a job application for a county job and there is an area that asks what my minimum compensation requirement is.... I'm thinking about leaving it blank in fear I would put something too low or too high. I work in SW FL but have not really obtained a job in the field that I graduated from my school in (CIS).

Job description:
"This position is responsible for providing second level support of desktop issues, configuring and installing hardware and sofware, and providing coverage of the Technical Support Center as required."

What would be a good safe number for a 40 hour/week job or should I go a little high?

going a little high is better than putting nothing down. Putting nothing down to me shows that you are either out of my range or too stupid to fill out a questionair fully.
And if you play that stupid "what are you offering" game it just makes you look like your out for money and not out for the job...

I would say asking for 30-33 wouldnt be too unreasonable for the descrip you provided or as posted below negotiable is a valid response

I was offered a IT position in Florida. Pay is really low in FL. I was offered like 32. I would ask 35K if I were you.

Here the county web site posts both the pay scales and job announcements tell what the grade and salary range is for every position they are posting. Also they have something saying what the maximum someone outside the county can start at. I took a hefty cut when I started but I love the work, love the commute, and the benefits are good as well. On top of that I no longer have to worry about being laid off.
