Job Application Background Checks

Are you bondable? Have you ever stolen anything, been arrested for abuse, harassment... have you ever been in jail ? killed someone?
 
does it mean anything though? if they are doing background checks, does it mean they are gonna make an offer? because it costs money to do the checks right?
 
it means they are interested, but it doesn't cost a lot of money to do a background check unless you are getting a Top Secret Clearance from the US Government

because of lawsuits, many companies do background checks to protect themselves
