Odd - I've been thinking recently about how much I love the show and Joan's attempts at understanding the mysteries of life. And, at the same time, during my psyche clinical rotation, I've seen so many ill HYYYYPPPPPPPEEERRRRR religious folks that I've begun wondering where the line is between "healthy spirituality" and "destructive religion"...

You mean that line that someone traced out with a twig in the windy part of the Gobe Desert during a sandstorm?

it's just a simple prime time drama series. you'll never really *get* it cause people will get it differently according to their own level of religiousness (or lack thereof).

there is some level of 'philosophy' inside the stories, but come to think of it, to me most movies are philosophical and i always made myself believe that i *got* it after i watched them. so back to my first statement, don't think too much about it, everybody will get it differently. it's entertainment. if you like it, keep watching it, and if you don't like it just flip the channel and watch something else.

Yep but ones liek this always seem to find a way in also.

Or... what's even worse -- the good ones always get cancelled, and the crappy ones (Everybody Loves Raymond, etc) have a long, glorious lifespan.

My mother watches the show so I've seen parts of it. I find it amusing that humans keep trying to infer what God or a god would be like, as if any of us knows enough to make a show with God as a character. A lot of it is merely common sense morallity stuff but at the same time the show (intentional or not) leads viewers to believe "this is what God is like", but at the same time its most likely what you'd want to see and hear.

I don't think the show's motives are bad, and some of the messages are good, but viewers need to be careful because it is just people creating the show.
