I recently started researching SSDs. I discovered that everyone says the JMicron controller causes stuttering during random writes of small files. Most review sites or forums say to avoid the MLC drives using the JMicron controller, particularly if the MLC drive is used for the operating system.

But there's very little information about whether SLC drives using the JMicron controller will stutter or not. The only place that mentions that SLC and JMicron is usable is this thread at overclockers.com.au forums, and Transcend's website that recommends using their SLC drives and not their MLC drives for OS installs.

Does anyone have any information or any experience on SLC + JMicron? Is MLC + JMicron the only combo to avoid, at least until the new JMicron controller comes out?

It doesn't exist so it doesn't matter but a drive without cache whether MLC or SLC is gonna be stutter fest.

except the intel X25, it has no cache and is the fastest drive on the market (yes I know it has some ram, that is not CACHE, it is used to run the wear leveling algorithms, not to store data while its waiting to be written so it call lie to the OS and say "yea i wrote that already" when in fact it will take a while longer to write)

It's used as a write buffer for the memory channels. It's not a user data cache but is used to efficiently balance the write load between the 10 memory channels.
