JK Rowling's fortune on a pace to equal Bill Gate's

I heard this on news radio this morning. At it's current rate, JK Rowling's estate will eclipse Bill Gate's. They didn't give a timetable. I wish I could write worth a damn!

Beyond pointing out the obvious ridiculousless of somebody becoming even mildly as rich as gates for something so insignificant as writing a few children's books vs. having a major and monumental impact on the world of computing, I will also express doubt that she'll be able to keep up a pace required to catch up to him.

The franchise is still hot and she could pass him, but yes I think MS is more sustainable than a book franchise in the long run.

lets look at just the books, 250 million. these sell for at least 10$ ad as much as 40$ well average that to 25$ now if she makes 1/2 on a book sale that means ..... three billion two hundred fifty million$ and thats prob a low figure

factor in movies and DVDs and such ..... now i hate harrypotter even more

You doubt she can catch Gates, or you doubt the story I tell is valid? If the latter, the station I listen to has been reporting news for years and is a trustworthy source. If the former, see my post above.

I saw the first movie and liked it. I saw the second and found it rather long, but still not too bad.I haven't read them because hey they're for kids goshdarnit!

I would venture to guess that she makes nowhere near 50% on the sale of a book. Try something like $2... and that's a conservative estimate.

I read books 1-3 when they were new. I saw the first movie and was disappointed. I haven't seen a movie since. But I enjoyed the books as a lighthearted read. There is still lots of kid left in me

I agree.

It's a given she is already filthy (and I mean filthy) rich with hundreds of millions of dollars but that's a far cry from Bill's BILLIONS of $$$.

No way can I see her having a 50% share of book sales. It has got to be much smaller but still makes a lot of $$$ in the long run.

I doubt she'll be able to keep momentum to equal Bill Gate's $$$.

The terms Nevils and Nimbus appear in Stouffer's book. ("Nimbus" does not appear in "The Legend of Rah and the Muggles" but in an unpublished book by Stouffer.) In Rowling's books, there is a character named Neville, and a brand of flying broomstick is Nimbus.

There's a bunch of them, but it is clear that she stole many of the ideas from Stouffer
