The industry as a whole in this franchise needs to stop making movies for pre-teens. Let Pixar and company handle those kids and bring a more adult storyline to these franchises. Not saying p0rn, unless it is science fiction p0rn.

No, you're not alone.

Now let's just sit back and wait for the "you're an idiot for liking the prequels" posts from a certain member here.

the topher grace one was better thought I cant find it right now.

Here is a decent edit of the three episodes into one movie with mediocre color correction. Its called the Phanton Edit since phantom menace basically sucked lol

The super fast light saber battles were a big disappointment
Oh please. I went to the first midnight showing of each when they first came out - not an empty seat in the theater; sold out early in the day. Lots of fans dressed as characters, etc. When Yoda went nuts with his light saber, the entire crowd exploded with cheers. Given the poor dialogue, lack of character development, bad acting, etc., those were the types of scenes that still left I, II, and III at least a little entertaining.

Yeap. I had the EXACT same experience.
The Darth Maul fights were fantastic too.

Tell me you were freaking like "Oh shit, it's about to go DOWN!"
(and please note how cool the lightsaber battle is and all the surrounding crap looks like it's from Flash Gordon)

I was not aware of how much "real" stuff he was doing for this film. I just expected it to be fill with nothing but green screens and CGI. It gives me hope. I enjoyed his star trek, so i am excited to see what he can do with star wars. I am not sure i will be lining up to see it in the theater as it has just become to expensive to go these days. You are looking at almost 30 bucks just for the tickets, and then a popcorn and drink are another 14 bucks. I can buy 2-3 movies for that price.

I never eat at theaters. It's a ridiculous proposition, so I eat before or sneak in my own snacks (admittedly, this isn't very possible for popcorn if you are a popcorn nut).

I may or may not get something to drink. I like theaters where I can get beer or something and then take it in with me. :D
Or I may get a slush.

Or I just sneak in a drink. I sneaked in a 4 Loco or something like that one time, but it was winter where that is easier to accomplish. :)

disney will take all the sets and move them to Disney world. The star wars section there in the last few years has grown like crazy.

Disney at least knows how to build and experience and seriously Kathleen Kennedy is one of the smartest women in the world and incredibly capable. John Milius discovered her.

I don't normally get things to eat/drink, but my wife got free tickets from work, so i thought since the movie was free i would get some popcorn and got sticker shock when i saw how much it was for just a popcorn and a drink.

$10 for a drink and popcorn. Save 50 cents if you get both!!!!1

Looks gritty, not CGI'd to fuck and might not suck. I'll reserve my judgement.

I never understand how the Jedi's weren't able to detect ANY of this going on behind their backs...

It took quite a while for all of that to build up... They didn't know the training behind the clones? Or the senator being a Sith planning to shoot them all the entire time?

The Jedi nearly discovered the implanted order in Clone Wars, but Palpatine and Dooku narrowly managed to manipulate the circumstances enough to dissuade suspicion. As for Sidious' identity remaining secret, he used an ancient Sith technique to conceal his dark side presence. Still, if Yoda were truly wise he would have gradually pieced together the truth.

But that was kind of the point. Yoda and the council were plainly wrong about basically everything. They're showcased as being nearly as out of touch as the Senate, insisting on dogma and a blatant lack of love and attachment. This is never more evident than when they throw Ahsoka to the wolves to protect their reputations in the eyes of the Republic.

Qui-Gonn relied on his instincts. He would have sniffed out Sidious eventually. But the council shunned him for his non-traditional ways that *GASP* went against the code from time to time as the situation called for it. The overall message I get from the prequels isn't so much that Anakin's fall is the tragedy. The tragedy is the death of democracy and how it could have been avoided, but the entire system was too tired and too corrupt to stop it.

Palpatine at this point didn't even so much as kill the Republic as much as he put it out of it's misery, thus setting the stage for a far truer return to grace under Luke's order years later.

Most theaters around here don't really care what you bring in it seems. I've walked in with a fountain drink of QT in my hand before lol

1-3 were just horrible movies. There was little to no redeeming quality about them. Name me one scene that you thought was "good" and well executed.

Darth Maul and Qui Gon scene. Ray Park was great.

The opening space battle scene in 3 was pretty good (if a little busy).

There is no hope....

I mean, once they started the MEGA COOL ULTRA FAST light-saber battles in 1-3, it was all-over from there. People are too stupid to appreciate a good story line and a simple sword fight. IT MUST BE A DOUBLE SWORD!!! OMG... At least they keep with the story line decently well... Also Anakin was a HORRIBLE actor in 2-3, 2 being the worst.

How is the technology in episodes 1-3 better/more advanced than 4-6? It makes no sense....

This. The series is dead to me. I am a Star Wars fan (duh, look at my username) and the prequels were crap. The sequels will be crap. There's no saving it. I can honestly say I don't care about the upcoming movies AT ALL.

You mean Yoda that walks with a limp and a cane? I wouldn't have had as much problem with him bouncing around like a rubber ball if there had been some continuity WITHIN THE SAME FILM.

Easy, you pretend 1-3 never happened, like I do. :)

That works well.

One thing I always told myself is that episodes 4-6 were after the war, after the Empire destroyed everything in the system to crush the opposition and had been long hunting and exterminating Jedis and rebels at that mount.

Thus, while the Empire still displayed impressive tech, the rebels and people like Han Solo were left with cobbled-together scraps of machines and had to live in shabby backwater spaceports to remain out of sight. It shouldn't be a surprise that the rebels would be living in caves and basically nomadic, without any kind of centralized base they would have to depend on low-rent tech.

Other than a bit too heavy with jarjar in 1, I have no problem with 1-3.
