Everyone loved Jin's freestyles...but yeah, his album hasn't been received quite as well.

uhhh... William Hung was sold at #1 on Amazon and iTunes for a number of weeks, so not selling more than William Hung isn't exacty uncommon. In the very least, Jin, with his awesome freestyling skills is recognized to have talent.

I've chatted with him a couple of times over AIM as well... passion means anything if your label isn't throwing the dollars behind you.

His best bet: Leave R/R/Def Jam, Go to Asia, record some songs with R and B singers like Utada Hiraku, go multiplatinum, return to the US with enough money to get your songs on the radio (Payola).

hehe, I was wondering what that kid would do about all this...I remember my e-board trying to bring Jin in for a Lunar celebration 3 years ago, that would've been great.

Jin's album sold 45,000 copies. For a "Top Tier" Music Imprint like R/R... that's just pathetic... it isn't his fault entirely though... the singles were not pushed at all.

I never thought his style would match up with Ruff Ryders. Not sure his style would be accepted in Hong Kong and certain parts of Asia. Maybe his best bet would be Japan, but it would help if he could rap in Japanese too.

damn. thats pretty good advice.

or he could just go up to jay, ask him for a favor/crapload of cash, and then pay for a dre-produced beat. the beat will make girls dance up in the clubs, the guys will buy the record to hear the beat in their cars, and he will be established (maybe).

ROFL, he sounds like Eminem

Who would even come across this mp3 unless through threads in forums such as this one?

LOL. I'm not asian, but I've got plenty of friends from Tawian, Korea, and H.K. from what they tell me and what I've heard rappers out there are subpar... its really all about image... (urban, american image). You can market crap anywhere, but since Jin is talented, he could do well in skill-conscious Japan in addition to the less knowledgable markets like Taiwan, Korea, China, HK, Singapore...

If he can do it somehow through his own imprint... (through a mainly online distrubution of songs either through downloadable or online only-order) a decently promoted release could do 3-5 million in six months easily (in the pockets of an imprint). I've actually got a business plan I wrote up for something like this that I did in a business class at Cal... it'd take about 200,000 to get off the ground... but a fairly good investment if executed properly
