I will say, without going into any unnecessary details that this represents a positive move forward for me. I can no longer commit all of my energy into something that I don't fully possess. I won't pretend I'm into something I'm not. I won't do it to myself, you the fan, or my former partner. I can't just, "Cash the check" so to speak. Music is my life. It is sacred. It deserves the highest commitment at every level and the Pumpkins are certainly no different. I'm sorry but it really IS that simple. There is no drama, bad blood, or anything else but a full commitment to music. My best goes out to Billy and I'm glad he has chosen to continue under the name. It is his right. I will continue to make music with the Jimmy Chamberlin Complex as well as pursuing other musical interests. I feel that I have a long way to go and a lot to give

Sad day for pumpkins fans 🙁

Meh, the pumpkins have been done for like 15 years anyway. They never really got it back together after Mellon Collie. Adore was travesty and Machina, while OK, certainly wasn't up to the standard of their earlier work. Machina II was horrible.

I agree. Zeitgeist was rough too.

I didn't even bother. By that point I realized Corgan was unwilling to admit to reality.

Edit: Heh, now I'm listening to classic pumpkins on the winamp...Cherub Rock, Rocket, Muzzle...all the great stuff that never got radio time.

Loved Zeitgeist, Machina was ok, Machina II was decent if the audio quality didnt suck. The future embrace was pretty good, the camera eye rocked.

I consider myself a big fan and I *could not* make it through Zeitgeist. It was bad.

It's sad that the best drummer in rock music is leaving the band where he was given songs to shine, but I can understand that someone with that much talent wouldn't want to be in "someone else's" band forever. He's earned the right to control his own group.

As much as I love the pumpkins, I don't have a lot of confidence in Billy without Jimmy on drums. Billy's ability to self-edit has been steadily declining from the first album, to the point that we now have to sift through mountains of crap material to get to the gems. He's still writing gems, but his ego means that we're now getting all the filler along with the killer.
