I think Reagan was a great president. First president to recognize the aids epidemic, instrumental in tearing down the walls of communism. He had his flops though, but overall I think his legacy is clear

First president to recognize the AIDS epidemic?

His administration ignored the AIDS epidemic!

Members of his administration referred to the AIDS epidemic as an act of God!

WTF are you talking about?

Reagan was part of Hollywood, he knew what was going on. He was personally affected. He acted, congress stonewalled though.

Man oh man, during the Carter years the working man was king. I heard the buying power of the average guy was at an all time high. Then the cheap labor party took over for average Americans it's been down hill except for some upward movement during Clinton. Carter was a fantastic President. It was the country that wasn't worthy of him.

Carter was a horrible president!!! Just awfull, the country was nothing but doom&gloom! Nobody could buy a car, or a house interest rates were 19%, unemployment was at 13%! We have it made in the shade with Bush!

he ruined the economy. nobody wanted to shop, you couldn't go into any store without it being sweltering hot, because stores had to keep the thermostat so high or else they faced fines. While the store managers stayed tucked away in lofty air conditioned computer rooms

Well I was a toddler then but my dad supported a family of 6 I think at that time, in costa mesa Ca, Owning a home, on a Pepsi Cola bigrig drivers salary alone.. You sure as hell can't do that now.

Moonie is correct "buying power of the average guy was at an all time high" ....in 1973 though.

No doubt if we don't get the middle class jobs back we are doomed. Politicians on both sides of the isle have failed the American public in favor of their lousey political careers. The Consumer and Taxpayer no longer have representation at the federal or state level. Just a bunch of special intrest parasite politicians fulfilling an entitlement paradigm. Good luck to you grads..hope you can find a job.

Rickn, you're wrong on this one. Reagan and his administration did nothing to address the AIDS epidemic. Their inaction helped it spread. As I said above the Reagan administration considered AIDS an act of retribution from God on homosexuals. And they stated it in public.

I wouldn't blame the 1973 Oil Take over (I know they call it Embargo) totally Carter's fault. Short of going over and taking over Saudia Arabia what would any sitting President be able to do about it?

It was the beggining of the Oil Cartel and all the Cronies (which Bush Sr & Jr) taking over Control of the planet as they have and obviously still pulling the puppet strings.

Only way I see this lock on Control being broken is an instant shift to an alternative fuel source. We have the Technology, it is not being used on purpose.

Sadly, it will take a Revolution or another World War to fix.

Well for you poppers maybe it was rough. How about us rich folk who could buy back millions in outstanding low interest loans for pennies on the dollar and refinance them again when the rates came down. What about the profits we made converting cash to commodities. I can't wait tell Carter comes round again and I got a hunch it won't be long. It was a fantastically profitable time. Plus the working stiff had it made. No cash depreciating in the bank like the stupid rich and huge pay raises based on inflation. It was a golden time. Oh Oh, and how about those thirty year bonds. Oh man it was great. Sure, there was some road kill but there always is for chumps.
