Jimi Hendrix was such an incredible musician, his range from rock to blues made him one of the most talented musicians of our generation. Found this Link on Stumble Upon, it's such a shame this man died at 27...
If you compare him to lets say Jim Morrison with the Doors, you can see that the toll of the constant partying did not take away from his voice unlike Morrison who was clearly on the decline before his death. Hendrix would still be going strong today, music flowed through his blood

You sure that Morrison's decline was due to "constant partying"?

Who knows. He might have cleaned up only to be hit by a bus a few years later. Sh!t happens. And if he had continued partying it WOULD have taken a toll eventually.

Look at Ozzy. I mean technically he's still rocking, but come on...

Jimi's brother Leon is supposedly releasing an album soon. We'll see if the magic is in the blood.

Nearly all the greats of the 70's started getting awful by 1980 due to drug problems and trying to remain relevant in the disco era. They cleaned up in the mid 80's and then resumed business. Eric Clapton is a good example. Jimmy Page is another. The Rolling Stones, Aerosmith...Jimi would have been on the same boat.

At the time of his death, Jimi was finishing up his double album "First Rays of the New Rising Sun". He was already planning on moving on from the rock/funk material that was going to be that album. He had jammed some with Miles Davis, and had scheduled studio sessions with Gil Evans. Apparently the plan was to do a "jazz" album of sorts, no vocals, with layers of guitars overdubbed.

Its almost impossible to say what direction he would have gone. However, in listening to his studio outtakes and live shows, its clear there was a wealth of music well beyond what you hear on the three studio albums he put out in his lifetime. I very rarely even listen to those albums because the rare material is so much better. Whatever route he decided to go, I'm sure it would have been far more creative than what he was doing, as opposed to artists that seemed to run out of steam as they aged.

Had he not died then, he probably would have died a few years later. Typical rock musician.

You are such a good way to pass the time before SNL comes on.

Are you saying that sex is just your way of passing time? It doesn't mean anything? :(

if the radio station i listen to played the real cd, its a frickin joke.

there are a TON of blatant rip offs in terms of background music. not only that, he has a horrible voice.

If you define constant partying as massive alcoholism and drug addiction, then yes.

Kurt Cobain #12? Eddie Van Halen #70? David Gilmour #82? Angus Young #96? No Robin Trower?

That list ranks up there with the 100 Greatest Jokes of All Time.
