Jim Carrey has some harsh words for Fox News. Carrey released a statement on Friday blasting the conservative news network as "a media colostomy bag that has begun to burst at the seams."

Carrey's issue with Fox News stems from the response to his recent anti-gun lobby video "Cold Dead Hand," produced in conjunction with Funny or Die.

Greg Gutfeld, a Fox News personality, attacked Carrey after the clip went viral, saying, "He is probably the most pathetic tool on the face of the earth and I hope his career is dead and I hope he ends up sleeping in a car. [...] This video made me want to go out and buy a gun. He thinks this is biting satire going after rural America and a dead man... He's a dirty, stinking coward... He's such a pathetic, sad, little freak. He's a gibbering mess. He's a modern bigot."

Carrey responded to some of the attacks on Twitter -- "I'd like to respond to all the conservative bundits out there personally but I'm far too busy NOT stumping for the gun companies," he wrote -- but took things one step further on Friday. Carrey's full statement against Fox News is below:

Since I released my "Cold Dead Hand" video on Funny or Die this week, I have watched Fux News rant, rave, bare its fangs and viciously slander me because of my stand against large magazines and assault rifles. I would take them to task legally if I felt they were worth my time or that anyone with a brain in their head could actually fall for such irresponsible buffoonery. That would gain them far too much attention which is all they really care about.
I'll just say this: in my opinion Fux News is a last resort for kinda-sorta-almost-journalists whose options have been severely limited by their extreme and intolerant views; a media colostomy bag that has begun to burst at the seams and should be emptied before it becomes a public health issue.

I sincerely believe that in time, good people will lose patience with the petty and poisonous behavior of these bullies and Fux News will be remembered as nothing more than a giant culture fart that no amount of Garlique could cure.

I wish them all the luck that accompanies such malevolence.

Carrey hasn't backed down on Twitter either. On March 28 he wrote that the success of "Cold Dead Hand" was "forcing intolerent goons everywhere to show their hideous face."

Huh, and here I thought Jim Carrey was acting in all his movies, when he apparently was just being himself the whole time.

Wow, that is a biting fucking response.

I didn't care much for the video, but that response is both sharp and dead accurate. Especially the "almost journalist" part.

I applaud the man for taking a forceful stance. He's got a set of balls, and that's more than you can say about some of our elected officials.

The video has become quite the hit from what I am reading. I think he had every right to fire back.

How does Carrey feel about all the millions of "assault" rifles and large magazines in the hands of our corrupt, lying government?

LOOK AT ME! I MAKE FUN OF FOX NEWS AND I'M STILL RELEVANT! LOVE ME HUFFINGTON POST COMMENTERS!

Sincerely,
Jim Carrey

Not excusing Fox News's behavior, but Jim has made it quite clear he has nothing worthwhile to say on this issue. The only ones who think any of his social commentary is "biting" are Jim and those who agreed with him before they saw the video.

It has around 150,000 views on youtube, the Reason TV response has about 117,000.

Neither is "quite the hit" territory. It's somewhere between oblivion and "oh yeah that thing", closer to oblivion.

Edit: Apparently it has about 2 million views on FunnyOrDie. Well good for FoD. I still wouldn't call it a "hit" outside of FoD.

He insulted a dead guy Charlton Heston who helped in the civil rights movement along with millions of Americans. Yeah what a classy guy, I can understand why so many people have been kicking his ass for this. This was some pathetic attempt by him to be relevant.

No, I think that demographic includes everyone who doesn't consider 6 minutes of bad dick jokes and funny faces (and that's what the video objectively is) to be persuasive arguments or biting social commentary.

Fox news is the opposite of Jay Leno: Fox news is unintendedly comical while trying to be serious.

I certainly don't share his views on guns, but Carrey is dead on wrt Fox Noise.

Quite the fitting description I thought.

More than Fox News slings. They just sling the toilet without the humour.

I guess I just don't "get it", Carrey re-hashes a joke that has been told hundreds of times in the past, then slings toilet humor that as already been said thousands of times in the past, and somehow this makes him a courageous, revered person?

I'm not a fan of a lot of what Fox News does. I've gotten back into watching The Daily Show most nights, Jon Stewart is someone who can be respected, his insults come with actual substance and insight. Carrey? Not so much.

No. What makes him "courageous" is standing up to FN. Something many Politicians avoid.

I'd almost give him credit if he wasn't just another sheep that goes after Fox while ignoring the exact same bias of almost every other organization. Of course when you agree with the bias, apparently it doesn't matter. Jim is an ass.

Given that he's not a politician and "standing up" (that is, making fun of) Fox News is about as common as a knock-knock joke, I fail to see the courage. It's a publicity stunt, quite common among former superstars who have ceased putting out good material.

If he wasn't Jim Carrey and didn't have the money to hire FunnyOrDie, "Cold Dead Hand" would be one of the millions of similar fringe youtube videos with about 367 views and 1% the production value.

Fortunately all the Constitution loving patriots have created a petition to deport Carrey for making this video. So happy to see those who support the Constitution defending it by lobbying to get rid of anyone who says something they don't agree with.

A person can try a dozen different approaches and debates
It's just that it always comes back to some right wingers missing their momma's titty and their lack of penis

Maybe.
