Jiffy Lube on NBC Special Report

Wasn't there a thread about this? Some Ca channel did something on a bunch of Jiffy Lubes, and maybe only half performed the requested services.

Edit:

Those people are total crooks, tried to rip me off the one and only time I took my car there for an oil change

When my girlfriend took her 92 Dodge Spirit to them for a simple oil change, they took advantage of her by convincing her that she needed a $100 oil flush. She was convinced she did the right thing, even after I told her that she got ripped off because the service was not required at all. The next time she took her car in for an oil change, they gave her the same line about the oil flush, and she went off on the manager.

I've noticed that every girl who I've went with when they've had their oil changed at Jiffy Lube have been offered the same service, yet none of my friends who aren't bright enough to change their own oil never get approached about an oil flush.

I'm sure this happens at tons of other places as well. You're at the mercy of the people doing the work (if you don't know any better).

It's funny, I took my father-in-law's car to Jiffy Lube because I needed to get it done quick. I had heard the stories and expected something bad to happen. When I saw them vacuuming I thought they signed me up for some really expensive service. Then i saw the guy walking in with the air filter and I thought they were going to try to pull one over on me. He comes up to me and he says "just wanted to let you know your air filter is fine. Your windshield wipers are fine too." Then I paid and saw that the vacuuming was part of their regular service. I was pretty pleased with the experience. But I'd never take my own car there. 😉
