When my Michelle was born in 1977 she suffered from Coarctation of the Aorta and Ventricular Septal Defect. She at the time was the youngest to ever survive Coarctation of the Aorta surgery of its kind at 3 weeks old, which required cutting part of a main artery from her right arm and spliced it into her Aorta to restore blood flow to the lower extremeties. 6 months later came the repair of the hole in the heart.
Today we have come a long way and now much of this surgery is nearly routine. But one can only imagine just how much medicine is in its infancy in nations like Iraq.
Good to see modern medicine can be shared even in the midst of controversy. If it had not been for the generousity of many kind contributors in Missouri thru the Missouri Crippled childrens association I could have never afforded the surgery for her as I was just getting out of the Army on my first enlistment and had no insurance at all.
If you look hard you will find kind heartedness and compassion can grow any place in the world.
