Jet Skis = schweeeeeeeeeeeet!

This weekend I was visiting my girlfriend in Houston, TX, and we went jet-skiing in the Galveston Bay region. Expensive as hell to rent but DAMN they were fun. They were yamahas, even in the choppy water we still got up to 49 mph (didn't quite hit 50....maybe we did, I don't think the speedometer is accurate once you're airborne😀). Anyways, for those of you who haven't done em before, I encourage it. They're one hell of a blast to play with 50 mph seems pretty fast when you're that close to the water...think of it like a motorcycle but without the crippling dismemberment if you fall off at top speed. If only they weren't $6K new......

I imagine wrecking on water at anywhere near 50 mph would still be pretty damn painful, even if it didn't tear your skin off.

Plus you can't drown on asphalt...

I have two Yamaha SUV1200's and they are so much fun. They are closer to 11k new (they are four seaters) but they are so much fun. I hit 50 in mine, in rough waters, and in the Jones Inlet (if your are from southern Long Island New York Nassau County, you know how rough it can get over there). I have so much fun on mine. Definitely a fun toy to have, and if you have any questions feel free to ask.

I always wanted to try those out. I looked into it..and its something like $50 for half-hour...way to much. How do they corner though? 😛

I can turn my four seater around on a dime. I can basically do a 180 in place at 50 mph. The strategy is basically floor it, let off throttle and turn handle bar all the way, then floor it. When you let off the throttle, there is no steering while on plane. What will happen is your rear end will come out of the water, and you will do a 180 at 50 mph. A lot of fun if you know what your doing. If you don't know what you're doing, you will throw yourself in the water.

At most you will get your breath knocked out of you...unless for some reason you manage to fall and hit the waverunner...kinda hard thought at anything over 30 though. I second that they are really fun...we have two yahmaa's we bought used and it good condition we got a good deal...two for about 6k with a trailor.

My friend just got one of those. His is a 1999. It is too small for me. I need a 3 seater or more.
Oh the small ones are fun...you can really jump high.

I can jump really high in mine. I just find anything under 3 feet to be a little unstable side to side.

Agreed. Hitting water at 50 mph != hitting concrete at 50. Yes, they are both hard and basically solid. But, when you are on the waverunner, you are wearing a like vest. This vest is designed to so that if you do fall off at high speeds, you will continue to plane on that vest until you slow down. Trust me, I know from experience. My friend decided to be a fvcktard when he was with me, and yank me off in the middle of a sweet jump. I ended up hitting the water going 50 mph from ~5-7 feet up. I had no injury, and was able to get right back on the waverunner and keep going.
