I have a four winns jet boat and it has a 115horse jet on it, and I thought I heards that a jet boat is much more efficient than a propeller driven boat, but seems that a 115 propeller driven boat has much more torque than mine(with less than 300lbs my boat is awesome, but more than 300 lbs and it starts to get pretty doggy)just wondering if someone knows more on this subject.
thanks

Jet boats are much less efficient on the top end and much more efficient on the bottom end.
Very generally speaking, in a 1/4 mile race situation, a prop boat has to be 10 mph faster
than a jet on top speed because the jet has a much better hole shot. After that, its efficiency
drops pretty quick. I've been told a jet looses up to 25% of the engine's power.

One good thing about jets is they can take more horsepower easier than a prop boat and
they have less maintenence. They also can take landing back in the water after a jump, which,
unless a prop boat driver knows how to drive, can destroy an outdrive.

I would say that with 300 lbs, noticing a lag is normal with only 115 hp.

Thanks, that 400 extra pounds sure helps get a halfway decent wake, but sucks gas down also.

Actually, turbos don't work very well on boats.

If you're going to do forced induction, you'll want
a supercharger.

What size engine is it? 4 Cylinder?

You have one of those Seadoo jetboat thingies?? There are actually hopup parts
for those engines. I couldn't tell you where to find them though except to do a
search on the internet.

If you don't like the boat though, you're better off selling it and buying what you
want.

If you decide you want another boat, this is a good site to get information on boats.
