I'm very much aware of how electrified enclosures work actually. My mirth was over him doing just one shoe, to maximize the amount of elective pain kid would receive when he was already going to get hammered by being last one in the chain. Fwiw, mass and distance play a role in shielding you from the grounding effect. I've been tagged when wearing flip flops and Tevas, the protection is no where near a pair of heavy rubber farm boots. In that situation most AWD and pretty much all 4WD vehicles without studs/chains can actually make matters worse in terms of regaining a modicum of control.

Highly sophisticated electronic AWD as found in newer Audi's and Subaru's (among others) can actually apply power to prevent wheelspin-related loss of traction but older systems can cause problems with compression-braking making all 4 wheels lose traction at the same time.
