I worked with a guy who raised Jack Russell Terriers, and one season he sold 10 of them to a hunting camp in Alaska for grizzly bear defense. Apparently the bears were not fond of the dog equivalent of a pack of mad hornets, and no dogs were killed in the process.

They work with other dogs, or is it just them? Idk, there are eagles and owls salty enough to swipe small dogs. Summer camp I'm guessing, not much coat on a Russell. I've always heard Jack Russells and Scottish elkhounds are the combo for hunting, but as long as you have something determined that can move faster than you, should be good. I wouldn't go into bear country without at least one dog myself.

I think patron saints are nominated by the patronage group themselves. The Pope is behind beatification, but after that, whatever self-defining group of humans decides which saint they want to represent them.

I'm assuming the selection ceremony involves candles, oils, and a goat.

Yeah people were talking about video phones quite a bit in the 50s and engineers envisioned a wireless phone in the 50s. Just took time for the chips that power them to catch up.
