Sorry, where I live (upstate NY) they have trash tags. You pay a minor monthly bill (like $10/mo) and you buy trash tags from the store at like $20 a book. No trash tags, no bag of trash picked up.

I like to imagine that being the guy that just got sick of seeing no trash tags so lost his shit.
lol that's nuts. But I guess if that is the only way pickup is funded...it's not in property taxes/county taxes?

anyway, I used to think it was bad in Chicago when we had to buy specific blue bags at the Jewel for the recycling. It was like 8 bucks for 8 bags. Blue recycling bags went out with the trash. same pickup, same truck, same destination.

That was weird, I thought, and I sure do hate paying an exorbitant fee for these ridiculous bags; but I had just moved to the city so maybe that's what city folks do so what do I know?

Anyway, turns out, a few months later, it was yet another Daley scam and all those bags were just going to the dump with all the other trash, because obviously. The blue bags were a Daley family slush fund or some shit. God damn Daleys.

Lol

I'm very much a recycling person. I like to do my due diligence to recycle. I make sure to only put the appropriate plastics in the pickup can, etc... And even when they werent picking up locally from our homes I would still take it manually to a place where I could toss it into recycling dumpsters....

But PAY to recycle? Fuck that. That's like giving someone a paycheck and paying them on the side as well.

Not really. It's not even explicitly a redirection to porn, it just redirects to the /b "random" page - and this being 4chan, well, that's about par for the course. Once I got to the 404 page I clicked out, felt that was gross enough just getting that close to 4chan lol

That's cool and everything but I wouldn't want to be holding onto that real estate long term though.

Great engineering to get it built in the first place.

I lived in a township for awhile that had stickers you bought from the store for trash. Two colors, two sizes with different prices. Recycling was free. That's how it should be done.

WHen I first moved to the town I live in they told me we had to buy stickers...I did it for about a month, and then just didn't...and 18 years later they are still picking up my trash.

To that house above, how long has it been there? Seems like at some point some of that upper rock would break away.

Whats the point? Buying stickers every week just to get trash picked up and placing them on all your trash?

Just fucking put it as part of the property taxes we all pay and eliminate BS steps.

I don't know the whole town history, but it's a good way to encourage recycling. The more that doesn't go into trash, the less you pay. Fuck property taxes. You shouldn't have to pay the government to exist.

yeah, fuck the government. what have they given us?

roads?
the aqueducts?
sanitation?
sewers?

damn shit is free!

lol at the idea that a ~80 year-long lived carbon-based flesh bag can actually own a scrap of the Earth. That's what's funny!

If you don't leave your property you shouldn't have to pay anyone anything. You also shouldn't have your home snatched away because a bunch of yuppies thought your neighborhood's cool, and drove up property values beyond your ability to pay. So, yea. You can fuck off with your property tax.

I'll be glad to pay our property tax. It's the $11,500/yr school tax that can go F itself. Overwhelming majority goes to salaries, pensions, and top benefits. Oh, and F those unions.

 Ours is tied together but my total is ~$1K/yr. Even paying for private school, I don't come near what you're paying. Heck, our local Uni is $11K/yr.
