I don't disagree with you man, just saying I hate those fuckers. Im a very courteous driver and will likely let you in...unless you're being a complete asshole. And I always yield for the big stuff. "yes, of course sir, after you....you're 20x my size"...lol

I let people in to lane change all the time. Whats the catch? Signaling.

Guess how many do that? And guess how many I can tell are OBVIOUSLY going to shoot for a hole in-between the cars without the signal? Tons. Go fuck yourself people. The least you can do is signal. I will speed up just to fuck you over because the least you can do is signal that you want to get over.

If you signal, I will take my foot off the gas just to be courteous.

I always found this statement funny. Scientifically proven, yet never observed in real life.

In theory we could end traffic jams by just letting everyone drive 180 MPH so they are on the roads for smaller amounts of time. In practice, a lot of people would die and traffic would be worse.

I have observed it - but people are morons.

I will rally support for, and do everything I can--as a person with basically zero power in this world--to ensure we have driverless cars mandated across the board. Granted, I may allow for super-difficult-to-acquire licenses [at least when compared to the driving standards we have today] to allow for human piloting in certain areas. And "playgrounds" would be setup for those who desperately want their time behind the wheel.

Just you wait - once we remove humans from behind the wheel, highway traffic will be able to maintain ludicrous speeds without once single traffic jam or bunch up. With AI, cars that talk to each other will ensure that even those damned unpredictable deer and other wildlife will be safely avoided and all traffic diverted smoothly.

Humans are too stupid for these situations, or unskilled behind the wheel, at least the majority. ;)

I do too. But it's better to let them in. Doing the opposite makes it worse for everyone in every lane and exposes innocents bystanders to unnecessary risks.
The traffic is moving at snail speed, stop and go. What will you gain by not letting him in? Nothing. If you are a pissant, maybe pride. But if you get some sort of competitive edge power trip from that, you got issues.
What do you have to loose? A bumper, insurance rates, noses, jaws. Or have the unfortunate luck of having some road rager collide with someone else that wasn't involved.

The video is almost certainly from Russia, and the car trying to merge is almost certainly one of the well-connected elite who quite often literally get away with murder on the roads of that country. Think of the crappy Lada as striking a blow for egalitarianism.
