I bought a new motherboard and 1GB of PC3200 DDR ram for $130. Slightly more than it would have cost me to add an extra 512MB of RDRAM to my computer!!! :Q

Plus, this way I can sell my 512Mb of ECC RDRAM (selling for over $100) and my Gigabyte mobo (selling for over $80) on ebay and come out with an extra $50 in the end. Good deal if you ask me.

Little or no supply of a technology item usually keeps that price much higher than you would expect. This is nothing new.

It still makes sense to buy RDRAM in rare situations, for example to a business spending $100 to add even 256 MB to a working machine can cost less than the time needed to set up and transfer data to a new machine.

But buying RDRAM for a home PC, unless it's used from FS/FT forum and for your mom's beloved Dell Solitaire machine, is not a good idea.

Yea, well I mean it's definitely much less hassle. With a new mobo you gotta reformat, etc.

Thanks for the update...

Sure. I just got my crap today too. I was shipped yesterday from CA and arrived at my house in FL at 11:45AM today. Fedex rocks.
