...give people a right to a home, medical care, education, laptop, and ipod of course :D

So says Jesse Jackson Jr:

Yup, you heard it. We can simply change the constitution and mandate ourselves into prosperity and employment. Worked out great for the USSR right?

We have people in congress that don't even understand what rights are and don't know the first thing about economics.

Sounds just like the USSR. Thats america's "brighter future" Jesse?

Wow, simply ridiculous.

But but but.... I was just told in another thread that Democrats don't believe that you can raise taxes on the rich in order to give things to the poor...

This is only slightly less stupid of an idea than when the Republicans under Bush jr tried to amend the Constitution to prevent gay marriage.

No, the marriage thing was just stupid, pointless, and un-american.

Doing something like this would have devastating consequences. Far far more dangerous.

I'm so glad people like this do not have more power.

This is the kind of people in the congress?

Well - At the rate we're going, the amendment would read something like "...all those who find themselves without gainful employment shall report forthwith to the nearest Military Base, Peace Corps Office, or Road Crew Depot for proper assignment..."

If you can generalize from Jesse Jackson Junior to "All Democrats", may I generalize from Christine O'Donnell to "All Republicans"?

I've rethought my above statement: Since Minorities disproportionately comprise the ranks of the Unemployed, the above amendment would be struck down for being Racially Discriminatory.

He's still better than Obama. I wish Jesse Jackson had more of an understanding of economics though.

He understands economics quite well. He just doesn't care if he screws over anybody on his way to wealth and power. He is a huge advocate of the proposed third Chicagoland airport, which would be situated nowhere near his district. However, he just happens to own quite a bit of land near the proposed site.

But then he would prosper from a land deal which would be pure coincidence I'm sure ;)

When 1/2 of our GDP is Govt spending and 2/3 of people depend in Govt to eat I'd say you are damn close to communism already. Top to bottom too. big companies get welfare and people alike. I think we will go all the way once dollar collapses. I like heavy feather pillows and down comforter when I move in your house okay.

I implore him to do this, in a state of his choosing. (One that will have him)

I want this experiment over and done with as quickly as possible, and I want the damage limited to only a fraction of us, instead of all of us.

Republicans, you need to make this happen. NOW! What better travestey for Democrat / socalist ideals than to actually GIVE them what they want, and to watch it fail? Let the Dems and their ideals flock to this Utopian state. Watch the masses gather. Then watch it sink.

Fail to do this and we'll all go down together. It's better to cast the dead weight aside, load it up, and then throw it overboard. Let them have a state, and get out of their way.

Yeah I think that would backfire. Just look at Detroit. Or any other liberal-run area for that matter. They are like third-world countries, yet the liberals continue to get reelected because they convince their illiterate, welfare dependent constituents that they would be even WORSE off with republicans. That's an ignorant comment, even relative to your usual partisan drivel.

Workfare would be a far better solution.

But I am sure Jesse Jackson Jr. would find something like that somehow racist.

Isn't this the same Jesse Jackson Jr. that was given a Budweiser Distribution contract otherwise his father was going to go out on a full-blown media campaign against Budweiser?
