Jersey mom torched her newborn.

Less time for burning a baby alive then getting caught 3 times with a certain amount of a fairly benign plant.

That this woman might breathe fresh air again is a travesty especially considering the absurdly long sentences we hand out for everything else.

Thats very sad............... She deserves the same treatment!!

Eye for Eye is barbarism.
Executions should be done swiftly, and cleanly.

pleading guilty in February to aggravated manslaughter.
Our system though... that sure as hell was no manslaughter. What she did was premeditated, torturous murder. 30 years might be a good, solid, sentence... but she crossed the line with no right to live for her crimes. I do not understand a society that feels differently. That shows compassion towards torturers. I judge harshly for her actions.

maybe if we had better sex ed in schools that taught about the use of birth control this wouldn't have happened.

Better sex Ed
Easy access to birth control.
Easy access to 1st and 2nd trimester abortions
Better mental illness health care
Better pre and post natal maternal support
Stop demonizing sex, contraceptives, abortions, pregnancy and single mothers.
Stop pretending mental illness is a personal failing/doesn't exist and start treating it like an illness.

I might excuse her and soften my tone if she had chosen something other than the worst way to die. But I appreciate your distinction, that she clearly felt pushed into a corner with no escape. Thereby facilitating what we might view as a mental break. That she did not reach this position on her own. (Although I'd really like some testimony and evidence leading up to such conclusions)

I can appreciate that, given the pressures society places on people, they can snap and do horrible things that they otherwise would not do. That if we provided means to alleviate this fear... and this pain... her child might not have suffered torture, or even been born.

Your sights are set on protecting the next child, and the next mother. On this we can most certainly agree, and your list is suitable.

Just another liberal trying to excuse criminals. Would you like to give her a cookie to? /s

It is sad that as a society we are so focused on the outcome and don't spend energy on trying to figure out the why. Good list.
