Yes I think it would be awesome for Rice to sign a contract with the 9ers again. But can he please stay with them? 1 year? Please. Seems like for 1 year he is just going for bragging rights.

Still, better than nothing. 9ers need whatever they can get IMO. Don't get me wrong, I am a 9ers fan, but they need to start drafting some better players.

I don't know how feasible this would be, but I've wondered if they could develop a salary cap system where after a certain number of years with a single team a certain % of the player's salary would no longer count against the cap. This would possibly encourage players to stay with teams longer and might allow teams to keep veteran players longer while still bringing in younger talent. As it is now players change teams so often you are basically just rooting for a jersey. Then you also have situations like this where a veteran player that wants to stay in the league a couple more years gets shipped off to another team after being with one team for a long time.

Sounds like a good proposal to me... trick is the NFL would have to adopt it, and that usually takes a while.
