If he recovers from being dead, I'm joing his church.

Agreed.

Hopefully Billy Graham and Pat Robertson are next, followed by Ted Haggard and the entire clique... with a special place on the "express elevator to hell" for the ones responsible for pushing "intelligent design" in schools.

The fact that some people here feel sad about this worm of a man is just another sad sign of decadence and irrationalism.

The sweet irony would be if it turned out that he died of "accidental" drug overdose administered by his secret gay lover. Oh well, we'll take what we can

Falwell will be remembered as an intolerant, uncompassionate bigot towards those who didn't accept his personal religious views.

I never wished death, illness or suffering on him, but I won't miss him.

Upon hearing of his death, Flynt released the following statement to Access Hollywood:

"The Reverend Jerry Falwell and I were arch enemies for fifteen years. We became involved in a lawsuit concerning First Amendment rights and Hustler magazine. Without question, this was my most important battle ? the l988 Hustler Magazine, Inc., v. Jerry Falwell case, where after millions of dollars and much deliberation, the Supreme Court unanimously ruled in my favor.

My mother always told me that no matter how much you dislike a person, when you meet them face to face you will find characteristics about them that you like. Jerry Falwell was a perfect example of that. I hated everything he stood for, but after meeting him in person, years after the trial, Jerry Falwell and I became good friends. He would visit me in California and we would debate together on college campuses. I always appreciated his sincerity even though I knew what he was selling and he knew what I was selling.
The most important result of our relationship was the landmark decision from the Supreme Court that made parody protected speech, and the fact that much of what we see on television and hear on the radio today is a direct result of my having won that now famous case which Falwell played such an important role in."

Good one by Larry. If anyone should hate the guy, Larry should...and yet he saw him for a human, with all his flaws, but also his humanity. It's kinda funny that Larry Flynt shines above most of the moonbats on this forum :D Schandefreude is the mantra of most of the loonie left today...

Westboro Baptist Church to prtest at his funeral

WBC will Preach at Jerry Falwell's Funeral!!

WBC will preach at the memorial service of the corpulent false prophet Jerry Falwell, who spent his entire life prophesying lies and false doctrines like "God loves everyone".

There is little doubt that Falwell split Hell wide open the instant he died. The evidence is compelling, overwhelming, and irrefragable. To wit:

1. Falwell was a true Calvinistic Baptist when he was a young preacher in Springfield, Missouri, and sold his soul to Free-Willism (Arminianism) for lucre.

2. Falwell bitterly and viciously attacked WBC because of WBC's faithful Bible preaching -- thereby committing the unpardonable sin -- otherwise known as the sin against the Holy Ghost.

3. Falwell warmly praised Christ-rejecting Jews, pedophile-condoning Catholics, money-grubbing compromisers, practicing fags like Mel White, and backsliders like Billy Graham and Robert Schuler, etc. All for lucre -- making him guilty of their sins.

Falwell is in Hell, Praise God!!

I will rejoice when somebody succesfully blows up that bunch of religious nutcases.

It's a trick, get an axe!
Don't do it. He'll swallow your soul!
I shall now watch the Evil Dead trilogy, including the many extras of my Evil Dead II, in honor of whatever killed Falwell. He clearly didn't shop S-mart.

For a second there I thought you were talking about the people on this board and their response to his death.

The heartless coward is the man whose legacy is making hateful pronouncements of "God's will" from atop his "high and mighty pedestal."

Not only did he add to political divisiveness but he demeaned the name of Christianity and blasphemed, and it would seem much of his motivation was the dollar and power.

So cry me a river if you are going to whine when people criticize the controversial actions which define him.

You are comparing a guy who gassed thousands of innocent people to a preacher?

Both leave legacies of intolerance, only on different levels of magnitude.

But I forget, you are incapable of seeing in shades of gray because that is a "weak" trait of "in-absolute liberals." Along with logic and reason.

Falwell may not have directly gassed anybody, but then again neither did Saddam. He simply had other people carry out the dirty work. Kind of like how Falwell supported Apartheid.
