Bless you Jerry, you are home now forever. We are saddened of the loss of a man who "cherished faith, family and freedom." Amen!

I would like to ---- over his dead body and stuff his mouth with horse ---- but too bad I don't live in the good ol' U.S. anymore. Now that's a "Welcome Home" treatment for a douche like Falwell.

wtf?

What I explained here is why...

At age 16, he was preached as a great man that will save my soul and lead me towards the Lord. I am glad they won't be able to use this douche's name and hate to brainwash kids anymore.

That sucks. Too bad they treated you that way. This is a fine example of Christians not practicing what they follow. Jesus did not lead by force, he led by example.

I wish your circumstances had been different.

I'm sorry that he's putting the blame on a dead man, rather than on the people who actually had a choice in how to treat him.

Sounds more like he's blaming the dead man(boo hoo) for being the driving influence behind their practices.

frankly, just looking at the picture of the man makes it obvious he would die of a heart problem. he's a fat man but i suppose he didn't believe doctors could help him.

Because of the attitudes and awful mindset, you guys are Jerry Falwell.

Everyone should be happy that he is dead especially christians since he is now in heaven right? Why do so many Christians get hypocrital about death when in fact they should be rejoicing their loved one has passed into heaven. Stop the hypocrisy and rejoice with us, lol.

Christian != Gnostic. Christian's don't view the body as a cage and death as a liberating experience. The next life is wonderful, but that doesn't mean that life here on Earth is pointless. It's not that you're mourning only for the person, but for what the person did and could have still done.

Whatever you opinion on the man, I don't care. But for people who felt that he did great work while he was alive, his death is very sad. When you mock him and show nothing but joy in his death, you are not only mocking him but all of what he did.

So learn a thing or two before you start casting judgment about hypocrisy.

I don't think anyone here has any problems with mocking all of what he did in life, since it's roundly accepted that he contributed nothing of value, to anyone. Neo-Nazis and White Supremecists perhaps, but certainly nothing of value to any person of value.

I don't know a Christian that considers Falwell a Christian. Hate-mongering assholes aren't Christian.

It's perfectly fine to not mourn someone in death. Are we supposed to honor men like Hitler and Stalin in such ways..simply b/c they died? This is the logic of those in this thread who bitch and moan about showing someone the respect that their death "deserves," despite the things they did in life....

Well it seems someone did because they were complaining about it. As for me, I could care less about the guy, but I'm not asking people to rejoice over his death. Personally, I think that's a bit cruel.

I don't know a Christian that considers Falwell a Christian. Hate-mongering assholes aren't Christian.

Again, I wouldn't know. Didn't care much for the guy.

I never said everyone should mourn. I simply said they shouldn't mock. There a big difference there. As for Hitler and Stalin, I mourn their life more than their death. I think both were slightly off their hinges, but they were both incredible leaders who brought nations together like few others in history have. If only that skill and talent would have been better used.

Point is, if you don't care for someone and don't feel like mourning their passing, that's your deal. But I don't think it's right to expect others to do the same, and definitely not just because you think you know what a Christian is.

Point taken...but as per the bolded....slightly?

poor choice of words, my man....poor choice of words...besides, illegal militarization (Hitler) and mass murder/fear (Stalin) are generally unaccepted methods of "bringing a country together." I know that in Germany's case, the ave citizen then and now would have preferred the post-WWI state of the country (as deplorable as it was) to what Hitler brought with him. Stalin is the biggest murderer in history...ehh...Ghengis Kahn may have a right to challenge that though...

LOL, yes, the "slightly" was supposed to be comical. Probably should have italisized it or put it in quotes or something to show I was being funny there. I do believe they were both slightly off their rocker on a "few" things.

fair enough :D

either way, was it not inevitable that any Falwell-related thread somehow devolve into mentioning Hitler? It is the internet, after all....

Jerry Falwell gave a bad name to Christians everywhere by being a self-righteous bastid who swindled the weak and gullible.

this reminds me of a song we sang at Easter in church.

:music: Up from the grave He arose! :music:
