It was fun until the scripted action scene where you have to climb down the hole. I'm bad at DDR, so I hated that. The rest of the game was fun, though. I liked the ability to switch between characters. Some of the weapons seemed a bit odd though - bullets as secondary fire? One of the guys has both a chaingun and a pistol - it seems like the chaingun should be far more powerful. It's also excessively dark. And as for scary - not really. It's DOOM scary - things jump out at you. My system also struggles to run it, but that's not the game's fault. I really need a new GPU - it's becoming very apparent with the Unreal 3 titles coming out.

On that note, the thing that annoys me about these Unreal 3 games is the lack of customization. You can set shaders, shadows, and textures. That's pretty much it.

I played through the demo last night, and was hoping for something a bit more tactical in nature given the squad based combat emphasis.

The art direction, level design and graphics are absolutely amazing...and very twisted and gory, which is appropriate for a Clive Barker game.

I like the weapon variations between the different squad members, and the bickering between them in response to the game world...which is a nice touch...but I did find it difficult to remember which team members have what secondary powers...I guess it is one of those things you come to remember with more time playing the game.

I had fun playing with the different weapon and supernatural powers of the squad members, but found the female character with the sword and automatic pistol the most effective...simply because the enemy characters rush you very quickly, and it is impossible to pick them all off with weapons fire...so having that close combat weapon comes in handy.

The game isn't necessarily scary...just creepy, dark and gory. The music sets a nice gloomy mood over the game, which definitely makes it more immersive.

Unfortunately, I got a bit bored with the action...the game suffers from the frenetic pace typically associated with console games, scripted events and all.

How do you climb down the hole? I see that you use the arrow buttons but what do you do with them?

When you see an arrow button appear, immediately press that key. Like the up arrow that appears, instantly press your forward key. A down arrow, press your backwards key. Left arrow, left strafe key and so on. Took me about 8 times to perfect it. Second time through the demo, did it perfectly the first time.

Thanks! I'll have to try it a little later.

Just played through the short demo twice. I used 2 different primary characters for the hell of it.

This game is going to be fabulous. I reaaaaally enjoyed the demo.

Hmm.. got it downloaded and installed, but after starting it and sitting through the short clips of the game companies, producers, etc, I get a black screen. I can move with the arrow keys and hear sounds as if I'm changing options or whatnot. I managed to start a movie that appeared to be the tutorial/intro, but it goes back to the black screen afterwards.

very fun. im not a fan of single player games but damn this was fun. the demo was far more enjoyable then my short experience with bioshock. definitely gonna get this game.

btw maxed out with my rig in sig and was butter smooth. i didn't even notice a SINGLE lag spike or frame drop. the graphics remind me of MOHA and the art style is like evil gory shit. and whoever asked about DX10, i might be mistaken but I don't think jericho is a dx10 game. pure dx9.

I finally got a chance to run through this on Sunday. It was very fun and I like the overall mechanics of the game. I'm not sure I like the, um, timed arrow controls (not sure what that is called) a la God of War, but I guess I could get used to it.

The game looked great. At 1920x1200 I had to lower shadows and shaders one notch to get acceptable rates, but everything else was maxed.

I did not find this game scary at all, no matter what was jumping out at me. I found Bioshock to be creepier and Condemned:CO to be overall scarier, but it did not diminish the amount of fun I had playing the game. :)

Thought it was fun, if really short even for a demo. The graphics are nice and detailed, but they use so much of that POP: SOT softening filter thing, forget what it's called. Having different characters will help mix up the gameplay, and since RE4 I'm a fan of the interactive button pressing. Ran super smooth.

Honestly, I thought the demo stunk. Ran very well on my system, but the gameplay and overall feel were really bad. Don't think i will be purchasing this one.

I have the same problem and it's damn irritating. I use the mouse L and R keys for moving forward and back (don't ask, it's how I started off with FPSs :p) and the stupid game doesnt allow me to remap them to my liking. I simply cannot play with the conventional WASD layout. :frown:

Otherwise, it looks like a nice game...a pity I can't even play it with the current control configuration.

I liked the graphics and the whole idea of the game, but the controls implementation put me off. I would like just one character with all the powers/gadgets/weapons, instead of switching between group of 7(?) people. Also what's up with the console game prompts to be properly pressed in sequence? I've had enough of these in PS2 games. When I died 3 times falling down that well, I uninstalled the game. What a frustration.

The first time I didn't even know I was supposed to do. Then I died about 5 times before I got through it. I just don't really like these kinds of games. So I definitely won't be purchasing it.

Still looked pretty.

FYI, ArsTechnica just had a news post that GameTap will be getting it on day of release. $10 seems like a good price :D

Jericho, Overlord, Far Cry, Sam & Max plus oldies. Once I catch up on some other games I'm going to give a subscription a try.

.

What does that mean, exactly?

Simple:

GameTap.com is a subscription service where you pay $10 a month (or $60/year) and download and play as many games at a time as you want for that one fee. The copy protection is that the games require you to have an active internet connection.

GameTap will be adding Jericho to their library at the same time as goes on sale.

You get to play Jericho free as part of your subscription.

$10 seems like a very good price to pay to play Jericho.
