Yeah, that's a pretty dangerous stunt to pull...lots of risk in doing off-road stunts like that.

I never like to see a fellow rider hurt or killed...

🙁

I saw someone die in person at the drag races one year. It was a skydiver, he slammed into the track and just never moved.

Wow did his head smack the ground hard.

Does anyone know if his brother is Ezra Lusk(another motocross racer)?

You cant get a darwin if you are a professional doing stunts, you just get a oops you fucked up. Sucks to hear that he died from it.

The slow motion of the crash makes it look like his neck/spine bent into a U as his head hit. Yikes.

Not sure what was with the first aid crew running him off the field bouncing him around rather than gently carrying him out, but I'm guessing he probably would have been fucked either way.

Medical staff was fine... they had to get him the hell outta there....

Anyway you really gotta be nuts to do this stuff, not sure how I feel about it.

Oh fuck, I think his neck snapped in half when his head hit the ground. But yeah, all those X-Games people are nuts, especially the moto guys. I guess they know what they're getting themselves into when they took up the sport.

horrible medical treatment.

Watch the guy try to flip him over, he PUTS the guys arm down to his side, and tries to flip him over his arm? WTF? thats grade school level First Aid. The arm goes up to support and stabilize the head and you roll the body over as much as you can as one unit.

HELMET STAYS ON. I couldn't tell but maybe they cut it off or had some type of quick release? Either way, this guy was DOA practically for sure if not for impact but for internal injuries sustained by the fall.

I'm sure the med guys were freaking out, but this is a DANGEROUS sport so they should have had a better trained staff on hand, one that can at least offer minimal first aid techniques.

I'm not one to say sue this or sue that, but the family of this man who depends on him for income needs to do something about this if they don't come out and admit they did not have adequate medical staffing.

Just choosing that career is good enough for a nomination.

Jeremy Lusk, star of a daredevil sport known as freestyle motocross and a popular action sports hero, died early Tuesday from head injuries suffered during a crash Saturday at a competition in San Jose, Costa Rica. He was 24.

Lusk, a Temecula resident, had been in a medically induced coma, with swelling of the brain, at Calderon Guardia Hospital in San Jose. A spokesman at the hospital said he suffered severe brain damage and a possible spinal cord injury.

Nicknamed "Pitbull" because of his tenacity on a motorcycle, Lusk was injured after failing to fully rotate a back-flip variation while soaring over a 100-foot jump.

He slammed headfirst into the dirt on the landing ramp's down-slope. It was reminiscent of a similar crash he endured while attempting the same trick during the 2007 X Games at the Home Depot Center in Carson, but Lusk walked away from that incident.

Is there a reason that they don't wear the neck protector things that are designed to prevent exactly what happened to his neck? I can't remember what they're called, we seriously considered purchasing one for our son who mostly rides recreationally. (even recreationally is pretty wild on a dirt bike.)

The Hans is the only one I can imagine.

I looked like his visor-thing actually caused more of a neck tweak that he would have endured otherwise.
