You go totally ape on Jeopardy. Your score is more than double anyone else's score going into Final Jeopardy.

Why in the world would you wager ANY amount of money on Final Jeopardy? Sure, the kid tonight managed to pull the right answer, but had he been wrong, he would have lost to the lucky kid who doubled his take.

What goes through your mind?!

At that point I'd be pulling a "Celebrity Jeopardy."
You answered "I'm sorry Alex"
Well that's very kind. Let's see how much you wagered.
"...Trebeck is such a fruit."

HO HO HO!

If you're in that situation, you bet enough so that if the person behind you doubles his and you get it wrong, you still win by a dollar. :)

For some of the contestants, I don't know if it's more greed than cockiness/ego...there was one guy that was on last year or the year before who was totally unbeatable, nobody came even CLOSE and he swept the 5 days...one of the days that I saw him on, he had probably 20K going into final Jeopardy, well ahead of anybody else, and he bet all of it and won...I don't know what I would do if I were him and knew the amount of information he knew.

But I laugh at those who wager it all and get it wrong. bwahahahahaha, suckers. :D

if you're behind, you got nothing to lose by betting it all, cause if you dont, then you dont get nothing anyway.

I would say bet what you want to. I personally anm a go for broke type, so i'll bet everything i got at every oppertunity. generally works for me. (im not that much of an idiot)

Well, I guess you are done at the end of the week whether you win or not, so on the 5th night you've already got like $80k, if you lose you go home with that much and you won't be back next week, so you might as well go balls-to-the-wall and try and double up.

OTOH if your win guarantees you come back another day, well I can see betting a little, but he bet enough that had he been wrong and the other person dueced it, he would have lost! Trebek looked pretty astounded that he even tried at all!

Ah well. He made it...that's all that counts!

nuh uh...

I have $5000
Joe has $5100
Jim has $5200

We go to final Jeopardy and they both bet half of their money and get it wrong... I'd be best to bet nothing at all.

If you have $25k and the next person up has $10k, you cannot possibly lose. Now if you are losing...well this is the Teen Tournament and at this stage a loser gets at least $5k. The one girl had $5200, and she wisely bet it all. She lost, but she really only lost $200 and could have had $10400.

This kid had $25k to $10k and he bet $5k! He could have lost on that! He almost did-the kid with $10k doubled up!
