Jeopardy! game running slow...

I just picked up Jeopardy 2003 for my PC for $10 and i seem to have a little problem. If i do anything else on my computer (save the startup apps) before playing the game, the game is slow as hell and my mouse pointer lags. I have about double the minimum requirements (or more) so that isn't the problem.

I've tried uninstall and reinstall...didn't help. If i run jeopardy before starting anything else it works perfectly fine.

Any ideas? It's really annoying to have to restart every time I want to play!

What version of DirectX do you have? What version does Jeopardy require?

Blinder, thanks for the reply. I have 9.x installed and says Jeopardy requires 8.1 Do i need to downgrade??

I'm guessing i need to just get off my arse and install XP. Still using WinME.
