The point is profit and future outlook, not who has the single fastest card.

Wrong again

Jensen was saying Nvidia has the strongest design team
- he is basing his future outlook on CUDA, 3d and physX for the short/mid/long term

So I assume I am wrong about profit being important?

You are right

. . . about your assumption :p

Profit is important but one has to also look to the future and future profitability - if they had continued on with a 4870x2 Killer by devoting most of their Tesla die to gaming performance, they wouldn't have been able to develop CUDA and PhysX - which i figure they will mostly transition to in 15 or so years, and will be their main market. How big do you think PC graphics really are compared to the pro market and cornering 3-D? Pretty damn limited is what i am thinking Nvidia is thinking = they are planning ahead 2 decades for continued profitability. Very smart.

otoh Nvidia was thinking of short-term profit when they charged $650 for both their GX2 and 280GTX at launch

How well did that turn out?

Just you saying "wrong again" confused me, as after you just elaborated by using marketing speak.
