Jehova's people came to the door just now

This is the second time they have come by. The lady and her husband are nice and not pushy. I don't see where people get offended by them. They seem perfectly normal to me, just have a religious belief they would like to share. I let them know I have my own faith and they were perfectly accepting. Hmm...
 
I think the trouble comes if you tell them you're agnostic or don't believe in a god. I haven't had any personal contact with these people, however.
 
People just like to have something to b!tch about. Listening to most forum members here you'd think Jehova's Witnesses had busted down their door and tied them up while they gave their speech. *shrugs*
 
Do what I did to them a few years back, the JW's refused to leave me alone, week after week they kept coming back trying to convert me, I got fed up, so I took an old white pillow case, cut two eye holes in it and left it next to the front door, when they came calling, I put on my new "hat" and opened the door, I said "can you wait just one minute please, I'm not done with the sheep in the basement", they never bothered me again.

True story.

I agree. I just smile, nod, take whatever they offer and they go away within a minute. Sure, I toss their stuff right away, but they are always friendly to me. If I say I'm busy, they leave almost immediately. Some people are just intolorant of others who are different.

Its not that they come by that bothers me.. Its that they come by so early in the morning on a weekend!

Did you actually try telling them that you didn't want them coming to your house anymore? Probably not. If you did, you probably did it in a terrible and insulting way. I would come back too, just to annoy you.

Once again, you are assuming, I politely told them many times NOT TO BOTHER ME, they refused to listen.
 
a quick "no thanks" while abruptly shutting the door gives them no time
to start their spiel - works great for door-to-door salespeople, too.

they make fine neighbors, though.

I nominate you man of the week!

The JW folks that come to my QM have been pretty cool except for one time. I was outside the store and the girl had dropped some flyers near their SUV. She started picking them up and her father stopped her from picking up the ones that went under their SUV. I mean, she could have easily gotten them or moved the car then gotten them. Her father told her, "just leave them there". I just stood there upset to witness such god fearing folks intentionally littering on my Qwiky mart premises. So much for setting an example.

I'm still nice to them kids. It's not their fault the father is a litter bug.

Usually when you tell people this, they won't bother you again. The only reason they came back was the first time I was on my way out and didn't have time to talk and told them to come back. I have never had anybody come back to my house when I told them not to politely. Now telemarketers are a different deal.
 
It means you live in a safe neighbourhood..they never "spread the word" in the poor side of town...
 
My neighbor answered the door in the nude, you should have seen the look on the woman's face... They don't come by his house anymore.

I lived pn a corner house and they used to congregate on the corner at 8 every Sat morning so I set the timer of my sprinklers to start at 7:30 on Sat morning. He at least I didn't set it at 8:10!
