Thinking about buying a Wrangler when my lease up in the next couple of monthes, and I want to buy Jeep. (car has to a diamler-chrysler product). I had a 4-banger jeep a couple years ago on lease, and really really miss it. When I checked fuel.gov, it said the Wrangler with the 6 got pretty bad fuel economy, I just wanted to know given real life driving whats normal. (yes I know there are jeep forums, but I don't want to have to sign up for another forum name for a simple question.)

Thinking about a Wrangler softtop, 4.0 6, 6-speed (stick) 30" wheels and tires.

I have this theory. It goes something like this:

'Everyone who drives a Jeep Wrangler is an a--hole.'

So far it has been proven correct. My old boss was an a--hole, as well as my uncle who both loved their Wranglers. Every time I see someone driving one on the road they look like an a--hole to me.

If you are an a--hole, please prove me right and buy one.

I have an '03 TJ and I average somewhere between 14-15 mpg. Of course this is with a couple hundred pounds of 1/4" steel skidplates and various other accessories and I have 4.10 gearing.

If you were to buy a Sport with lets say the 6-speed manual and 3.73 gearing you would probably average between 16-17 with a light foot and the soft top.

Let me know if you have any other questions. Just PM me, i'll be glad to help you out.

FWIW, i'm not an a--hole either. :p

What do you expect from a vehicle that weighs 4,000# and has the aerodynamics of a barn.
