Not even close. The Jeep Patriot and Compass are built off the Dodge Caliber crossover platform which itself is based off the next gen Lancer platform (IIRC).

It's a softroad with a 4-banger. The Liberty at least comes with a V6 and real 4WD.

The Patriot and Compass are pissy little trucks to appease teenie boppers

lancer? i thought mopar had completely divorced themselves from mitsubishi?
The platform was already well into development and near production when Chrysler announced its split.
All Lancers will ride on a new front-wheel-drive platform shared with DaimlerChrysler. Already in use underneath the Dodge Caliber and Jeep Compass, the new chassis has already proven to be a fairly stiff and well-mannered setup. Of course, when it comes to the Evolution there will be all-wheel drive, stiffer suspension settings and heavy-duty brakes. Along with its already sophisticated Super All Wheel Control (S-AWC) drive system, the new Evo will also feature a new active braking system to further enhance stability in low-traction driving. We got a taste of how it works during a test-drive of an Evo X development mule and the results were impressive.

Wrangler FTW

The 07 looks great, and freakin' cheap! $18,000 for a V6 4x4 Wrangler? Sign me up!

I don't recommend them. They handle like crap on the highway, they're noisy, there don't sit more then two people comfortably, they are a pig on gas. If all you are doing is off roading, then yes, otherwise hell no. btw, I'm a former owner of a TJ Wrangler

we are Sheep people too, and we accept all the things that come with Sheep, speficially wranglers. All those things are worth it to us... so what if there is a lot of cabin noise, its a Sheep, its a pain in the ass to go grocery shopping with it, its a Sheep...

Fixed. Somewhere along the line Jeep must have had amazing marketing or something to make Jeep owners think they're the greatest vehicles ever made.

kind of like honda owners or toyota owners on here?
we loved ALL of our jeeps for specific reasons and we will continue buying them. THere is NOTHING like the feeling of driving on a warm summer evening with the top and doors off. I am sure folks that rides motorcycles would say the same thing.

you can take the trash out of the dodge's engine bay, but you can't take the dodge out of the trash.

... or something. that wasn't as clever as i hoped it would be. :)

You will not find Honda and Toyota owners saying "my car sucks for all of the following reasons _______________, but it's a Honda/Toyota." The fanaticism of Jeep owners has no equal.

i never said i had a real issue with anything about wranglers... i accept there will be "quirks" with the vehicle and that is ok.
just my thoughts... maybe they have subliminal messages in their ads because i loved our 1999 Jeep Cherokee, our 1993 Grand Cherokee, our 1999 Jeep Wrangler and now my grocery getting 2006 jeep liberty. thats my opinion. its not right or wrong, just mine.

do you have to mention sheep in every post you make? i swear, if more than a handful of people like something you immediately call them a sheep for no reason. frat member, sheep, republican, sheep, gun owner, sheep.

perhaps people like jeeps due to the 60+ years of history. they were designed to be rugged and go anywhere. that's what i would want in a vehicle.

Name another vehicle with solid axles front and rear that doesn't cost as much as a house.

It's amazing how people who know nothing about off roading think they know what makes a good truck good. The sheeple are the ones who think that trucks should handle like cars and need IFS, prompting Jeep to sell car based SUVs, ruining the classic Cherokee with IFS and calling it a Liberty, and turning the Grand Cherokee into a sport wagon.
Of course these are the same sheeple who don't understand why BMWs are RWD and VW builds compact cars with diesels.

It's certainly much uglier than the Liberty.

Oh, and FVCK Jeep for using these ridiculous patriotic names...god that's annoying. Let's call the next one the Jeep God and Country...:disgust::roll:
