Jeep Liberty for ~$21k

It's not stripped either -- V6, 4WD, auto, side curtain airbags (for the kid), cruise, aluminum wheels, some other stuff I can't remember right now. Managed to squeeze a sweet deal thanks to the Overseas Military Car Sales program and Chrysler's generous $3K rebate. We won't pick it up until early May, but I'm glad we'll have a decent vehicle for an excellent price, especially for those crappy Ohio winters we're headed to!

Unfortunately, it won't be MY car -- it's for the wife. Any suggestions on a cheap used car for work? 🙂

Hopefully the fuel economy isn't bad.

It's not wonderful, but with a child and a large dog, we need something sizeable since we'll be driving from Atlanta to D.C. to Dayton, OH, with the two of them and luggage. We had looked at the Pontiac Vibe, but it wasn't large enough for that trip (and likely subsequent ones).

it is actually one of the small SUV's i found to be acceptable, along with the forester. stuff like CRV and RAV4 are just mom mobiles.

Jeep did well with the Liberty and the new Grand Cherokee. I normally don't give them a 2nd look.

Honda civic 🙂.

I'm driving a 1994 Toyota Corolla right now (left hand drive, that is!), and it's been fine for me. Will probably look at a Corolla or a Civic when we get Stateside. I need to check out some car classifieds.

We've had our Liberty since October, and it is my favorite vehicle I have ever owned. But the gas mileage sucks compared to the small vehicles I've owned.
