Jeep > Hummer Video

the H2 and 3 are nothing special. The H1/HMMWV was god though at anything offroad with a competent driver. I seriously considered a decomissioed HMMWV for a while until i realized gas and insurance would rape me.

edit: in the 2nd scene, the H1 looked as if it was in high gear, RWD mode. WTF happened to low gear and the 4x4 diff?

Yeah, the H2 and H3 are really meant for the soccer mom crowd. The original H1 is extremely badass at offroading, along with Jeep.

So what was the guy trying to do at the end with the ramp?

RTI ramp, to test the flex of the suspension.

Here's our old Jeep on one: http://www.infinitemile.com/gallery/cars/IMG_1210

The goal is to go as far as you can without letting any of the tires go off the ground, then you measure the distance you have gone up the ramp. Divide that into the wheelbase and multiple by 1000 and you have your score. That shot is very close to 1000.

EDIT: And I have no clue why that Hummer driver did that. Stupid.

uh no.

the H1 SUCKS at trails, absolutely SUCKS ass. it is WAYYYYY to wide. and it is IRS. the thing however will take any jump/bump/rock at 50 mph and barely move.

the H2 is horrible at just about anything.

the H3 is a GREAT off-road vehicle. better than the FJ/XTerra/Jeep Competitor. great clearance, great low-gear.

I remember a Motor Trend article several years back and the Jeep Grand Cherokee placed slightly behind the H1, and both were way better than all the rest of the field (at off road capability). Needless to say at about 1/2-1/3 of the price of the H1 with better comfort, fuel economy, highway drivability, and everything else, the Grand Cherokee came out the favorite.

The fact that it's wide may mean it can't fit on narrower trails, but that doesn't mean it sucks offroad. As for the H3, it'd have to be a big improvement over the H2 to compete with Jeeps and such.

search for H3 on this board, or Xterra. i believe i have posted the link about 8 times proving ppl that the H3 is damn near amazing off-roading.

You were comparing the H3 to the Liberty, not a Wrangler.

Jeeps suck!.... NO! Hummers suck!... OH NO! Jeeps suck!....

that video is hilarious. Have to get a jeep wrecking on some hard runs followed up by the hummer man handling some rocks my wifes bmw could get over. plus if you have to put a stock liberty in your video to make your hummer look tough then that should answer questions about buying hummer
