Just curious what the cost might be to have rear quarter panel damage repaired on a 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee limited?

Any educated ball park estimates are appreciated. Thanks!

welding required = big money

So for all damage to the quarter panel, is welding always something that will be required?

Honestly, I have no idea... thus asking (probably stupid) questions.

For an idea of the damage, there is a 3-4 inch dent near the rear tail light. It almost looks like it could be popped out, and then sanded and repainted... but I honestly have no idea.

EDIT: Also, when you say big money... what figure are you thinking as a high ball park? 500? 1000? I have very little info about body repair, so I am just looking for a very rough estimate to know what to expect.

OP updated. Figures someone has to be a smart ass.

It was a perfectly reasonable estimate given the amount of information provided in the OP.

Now that you have given a bit more information, I will assume that its a shallow 3 or 4 inch long dent, like you would get if someone backed into it in a parking lot. Something like that might be 400- 800 dollars depending on what area of the country you are in, labor rates vary widely. Matching the paint on an almost 10 year old car will be a different matter, especially if its a metallic paint.

Thanks for your most recent post, that was the type of number I was looking for.

Honestly, while the OP lack detailed information, quarter panel damage should never amount to 10,000 unless you're talking about a 200,000+ vehicle, which an 02 jeep most certainly is not.

Paint is black, so I wouldn't figure to hard to match that.

Again, thanks for the info.

It's a Jeep, it should have a few dents in it. If it were a real Jeep, you wouldn't be able to tell it had a dent in it...

Pictures would help. If the panel is just creased in a bit and not buckled, it should not be too bad. May $500 or so depending on the shop. If it is bucked, then it is a major job as the frame or trunk floor may also need work.

There still isn't enough info. We would need pics, at least.

FWIW matching black is a huge pain. They will likely want (or need) to repaint the entire side of the vehicle - at the very least.

I'd guess in the $800-$1200 range considering the paintwork involved, assuming the dent can be pulled/worked out sufficiently. This is assuming you just want a 'regular' repair and aren't worried about a bit of body filler vs a 'perfect' repair involved replacing the quarter panel (which most people wouldn't do in an 8 year old jeep)
