Holy crap. I read about that lease price and figured it was a gimmick. With 90% residual that's no joke! There's no way it can actually be 90%, can it?
I won't get into specific numbers, but when I traded in my Renegade for my Mustang, they gave me a
lot more than I was expecting. Jeeps have
ridiculous resale value. I don't feel like 90% is
truly attainable, but then again, just look at the price of a used Subaru Forester...we got a better deal overall on financing than we would have buying a used one! Seriously though, if they really sell a base-model stick-shift for $143/mo on lease...as bad of an experience as I had with my Renegade (and with Jeep in general), I'd say:
1. It's a 2-year lease, so it's going back anyway
2. It's $35/week...I mean, c'mon
3. One of my biggest complaints was the 9-speed automatic, and this is a stick-shift, so it bypasses that whole problem
4. The 2015 model year was the worst for the Renegade; they got a lot better after that. I have several friends who own them with zero issues. Also, the Gladiator is not made by Fiat. Also, even though it's a first-year product, it's really just a beefed-up Wrangler with a bed, and steals a few parts from the RAM truck.
My current rental has assigned outdoor parking spaces, so I'm hosed for a third vehicle right now, but that's an amazing price for what you get, especially given a base price of $33.5k. I'd imagine the buyout pricing would be awful, but if they kept the low-mileage leasing deal available every couple of years, that would be an amazing vehicle for the price of a winter beater!
