Jeep Compass/Patriot

According to my friend who works for Jeep, he swears the 2008 Patriot and the 2008 Compass both get 25mpg city and 29mpg highway, even though the sticker says otherwise. The lifetime powertrain warranty is a big plus, and the 4x2 model should be sufficient getting around in the new york winters

I'm gonna test drive one and see for myself, just wondering if anyone owns one of these? Care to comment in there good or not.

I looked at the Rav4, nice suv but front seat was cramped for me, unless i can move the track back a bit.

They are a dodge caliber with a jeep badge on it, not a jeep (though the patriot is better than the compass in that respect). And I wouldn't really call it 4x2, which to me implies RWD. They are both FWD unless you pay for the AWD. Both were made by the former German management hoping to use jeep's image to sell cars that people wouldn't buy otherwise.

I wouldn't get one. Everything I've heard is that they are not that great. I love jeeps, but those are not jeeps. They aren't even that great of cars.

The stickers for the manuals say 23/28 so 25/29 would be in the normal range for the vehicles. Nothing unusual about beating the EPA estimates by 1 or 2 mpg.
