last time I checked, the price is up there only few thousands less than a similarly equipped Grand Cherokee, so you might as well just pay a few thousands more and get a Grand Cherokee instead.

Got me a 2015 Jeep Limited over the Labor Day Weekend. What sold me was the interior. It pretty much matched my 2012 Chrysler 300S. I'm definitely a fan of the new Fiat partnership.

Got a thread? (maybe I saw it don't remember). The Limiteds are super high end, as you said pretty much matches the 300's. Did you get the HID's?

http://www.usatoday.com/story/money/cars/2014/10/28/consumer-reports-auto-reliability/18040393/

When it comes to Consumer Reports' list of auto reliability, its survey singles out six vehicles — three cars, three crossover SUVs — as being especially troublesome.

They were the worst on the list.

• Fiat 500L: The boxy Italian design has a balky infotainment system, using a version of Chrysler Group's UConnect, and transmission issues.

• Ford Fiesta: Owners responding to Consumer Reports' survey didn't like its automatic transmission.

• Mercedes Benz CLA: A raft of problems, including squeaks and rattles; engine issues, bad audio and electrical problems.

• Jeep Cherokee, with the four-cylinder engine: The nine-speed transmission was an issue and the four-cylinder version had twice as many complaints as the V-6.

• Jeep Grand Cherokee, with the diesel engine: Owners reported that the new engine gave them fits when it came to the fuel system.

• Nissan Pathfinder: The new one has a new CVT and owners didn't like it.

Got the V6 with stop/start. I don't even notice it anymore. Now that the gas stations switched over to the winter gas, I've lost 1.5-2 mpg.

I did have to take the car in one day for a transmission issue. Hard to explain but one day I was acceleratting and it got stuck in a gear where I couldn't get it past 60 mph. Then after pulling off the freeway, it would clunk as it was downshifting. It would work fine until I went over 50mph, and repeat. Took it to the dealer the next day, and all they did was"reboot" and flashed a transmission update.

It's been fine ever since... being in IT, kinda had to laugh when the service advisor said reboot :)

@Bacstar - Interesting . . . Do you have the 9-speed that's mentioned in the Consumer Reports list?

That CLA is going to blow up MB's reputation if MB doesn't fix it.
(Sorry for threadjack. Now returning to regular programming.)

Yeah... all of the different versions of the Cherokees have the 9-speeds. Since I've gotten one, I see them all over the place now; Jeeps of all versions, amazing how popular they are here in Anchorage...subaru as well.

This is why CR is garbage. They specifically call it a reliability study and yet these are the relability issues?

Yes, all of them are reliability issues. You can leave out the infotainment if you want. They would all still be on the list.

When your trans does funny things, it's a reliability issue as far as most owners are concerned.

I've not been happy with quality control at Chrysler or any of their companies. I had a Jeep years ago that had quite a few issues that were more than just wear and tear....it was poor engineering and manufacturing.

Recently, I've liked the styling of the Durango and Grand Cherokee. I've considered them, but the pricing is high enough that I'm not willing to risk that much.

Not talking just SUVs, look at the average cost of a minivan...then look at a Dodge Caravan or Chrysler Town & Country.....There's typically a $10k difference in price between Toyota/Honda and Dodge/Chrysler. To my knowledge, this is the only reason they sell. Some people are willing to roll the dice to save 10 grand. I personally think they are junk anymore.

Grand Cherokee is good car
Cherokee Sport in the 90s was awesome.

The current Cherokee is meh..

Compare it to a Subaru Forester, which is just as fugly:
Forester has:
more cargo area
better road clearance for most transmission options
lower center of gravity
slightly faster 0-60 with stock 4cyl
better mpg
Both have great safety record, but forester's is better.
Forester is cheaper

Jeep:
if you get upgraded engine you can tow 2 tons instead of paltry 1500 like forester.
9 speed transmission might be better for handling high altitudes, ascents/descents.

Any Chrysler or Jeep fans who want to tow heavy shit through mountains through, will just buy a grand cherokee or durango which isnt that much more in price, but, offers a lot more in capabillity vs the Cherokee.

IIRC, it's rare to get the 9 speed trans to go into 9th gear. You have to just barely need any power at all.

Acting funny as in what? They didn't even talk about it? Does it shift hard when cold? Not shift at all? Randomly grenade? If they are complaining that downshifts are slow, it could be by design so it's hardly a reliability. If they are complaining that the transmission is left in the street, that is a different story.

It may be that they are just not used to the modern "clunky" autos and they think there is something wrong?

The Cherokee is a good example. It shifts funny to some people.

Here's why:
